Two different procedures
BIA uses electrical resistance measurements to estimate body water, fat mass and fat-free mass, among other measures. A metabolic measurement can provide different information depending on the method. We explain beforehand which device is used and what it can actually tell you.
What influences the results
Fluid intake, meals, exercise and measurement conditions can affect BIA results. Comparable conditions help when tracking changes over time. Muscle mass figures are estimates; they do not replace a direct assessment of strength or function.
From results to everyday life
We discuss what the measurement means for your goals. This may lead to suitable steps involving movement, nutrition and recovery. BIA does not directly measure cellular energy or mitochondrial function. With implanted electronic devices or other limitations, suitability is checked against the manufacturer’s instructions.
